Oxfam Weddings Auction...
As many of you will know, I was approached by Oxfam last year and asked if I would consider supporting their Weddings division in raising funds for their charity. Oxfam Weddings had plans to host an auction in April this year, to coincide with the first anniversary of the Royal Wedding, and I was only too thrilled to say 'yes!'.
That was back in September. Skip forward six months, and the Oxfam team and I have just finished shooting with a team of amazing creative individuals, the resulting images from which will be used as part of the auction campaign. I will be writing about the experience very soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to share a few sneak peak style images with you.
The shoot focused on six different era inspired looks. We weren't trying to re-create vintage looks, more use the fashions and styles of the past to influence a modern day look. We focused on the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s {yep, all in one very busy day!} and each of the following image represents once of these eras. I can't wait to share the full set of photographs with you.
Full details of the auction, how you can participate and bid for one of the amazing items that have been donated form a range of industry designers {from wedding dresses, to wedding photography packages, to shoes, accessories, honeymoons etc} will be shared on Love My Dress very soon.
I should add that the most incredible thing about this shoot is that you will be able to bid at auction for every single item you see in the images, from the dresses to the shoes, the flowers, headpieces, cakes and stationery. How amazing is that?!

Style Me Vintage, Clothes...
I wanted to tell you about a fabulous little book that has recently been published by Anova books.
'Style Me Vintage: Clothes: A Guide to Sourcing and Creating Retro Looks'
is a wonderfully new book by author Naomi Thompson, owner of Vintage Secret. I picked up a copy of the book last week and it's really fab, a gorgeous light coffee table publication in hardback filled with pretty images and advice on how to find your own vintage style.
This isn't a book written for vintage 'purists', but for anyone who has even the slightest interest in vintage clothing.
I was pretty impressed that Naomi made it on to BBC Radio 4 Womans Hour this week too to discuss her new book - well done Naomi! You sounded {and indeed look!} great :)
Seven days on Love My Dress...
This week, my wonderful Intern Franky shared her very first blog post with my readers. And what a post it was too. Franky considered the notion of a traditional 'going away outfit' for the bride. And to think that Franky was nervous about her first offering, clearly, judging by the number of comments and warm feedback, she needn't have been! I'm so looking forward to sharing more content from Franky, we have have some exciting new style feature planned for sharing too ;)
